The silent revolution towards sustainable health care systems in Europe

14-Nov-2013

This session on health services within the EUPHA conference focused on the increasing impact of the EU on health systems.  In my presentation (available below), I summarised the workings of the 'European Semester' and its implications for health systems; a little-known fallout from the financial crisis.  But it's not just about sticks; there are some very substantial carrots, too, with investment in health infrastructure from the EU structural funds, and I gave some examples.  Discussion showed both the importance of these issues and the lack of general knowledge about them, and I hope that this session will have contributed to improving that.
